SO - It's coming up to SU Green Action's AGM, which will be on March 15th at 19:00—19:30 in the Small Meetings Room (bottom floor of the union next to the squash courts). This is when we'll elect in the new committee, who will take up their posts from the Easter Holidays. It's super important as many people as possible come to make it a good AGM, to support the candidates and enjoy the epic social planned for afterwards! Here are the positions available:
#President - The Big Cheese of the society, liases with SUSU, makes sure everything gets done, generally the bee's knees
#Vice-President - Can run as running mate with the President to work as a team on the President's roles
#Treasurer - Manages SUGA's overflowing coffers, budget forms, spendings etc.
#Secretary - Makes sure everything's running smoothly in the society, responsible for meetings, minutes etc.
#Actions Officer - Gets everyone involved in local and national actions - from community gardening to marches and climate camps
#Events Officer - Packs the SUGA timetable with exciting events e.g. discussions, film showings, debates etc.
#Campaigns Officer - Runs, comes up with and co-ordinates SUGA's campaigns and lobbying efforts, co-ordinate with Transition Uni initiative
#Publicity Officer - Ensures the dominance of SUGA propaganda across our multimedia platforms (e.g. posters, leaflets, bunfight stall, other stalls, the website, facebook group, liase with media)
#Social Officer - Makes sure we have relaxing breaks in between actions and events, the occassional epic social too
Even if you feel you haven't attended enough before to be able to run for a position, if you're keen or have some ideas for the society then put yourself up anyway, and help this growing society have its best year yet! A small blurb saying why you want to stand / any plans you have etc. is required (but doesn't have to be anything special!). Email me if you're interested in running.
The AGM will also be followed by an epic handover social to be organised by the departing Mike, and as the AGM is only brief there'll be plenty of time to celebrate and toast the new committee! Be there or be a regularly shaped four-sided polygon.
