Want to find out more about International Development? Want to hear from some leading international experts in Human Rights and Development?
The Oxford Introduction to International Development (IID) is an annual one day conference hosted by the Oxford Hub and the Oxford Forum for International Development (OxFID) aimed at introducing students to key issues in International Development. This year's theme is Human Rights and Development.
Confirmed speakers include:
· Robert Archer - Executive Director of the International Council on Human Rights Policy
· Firoze Manji - Executive Director of Panbazuka News and former programme director for the International Secretariat of Amnesty International, CEO of Aga Khan Foundation UK
· Peter Houtzager- Fellow of the Institute of Development Studies at Sussex University. Consultant for the EU, DfID and UNDP.
· Laura Rival- Oxford University Lecturer in Anthropology & Development. Consultant for USAID, ODA, European Commission.
· Corinne Lennox - Academic in Human Rights at the Institute of Commonwealth Studies
· Andrew Williams - Lecturer in Human Rights Law at the University of Warwick
With various workshops to choose from, the event will be a fantastic introduction to international development for those who are new to it, while providing depth and detail on the fascinating crossover between Human Rights and International Development.
The event will be held at the Social Sciences Building on Manor Road on Saturday 7th Nov (End of 4th week) from 10am - 4pm.
