Jacari is a student-led charity that provides home tuition for children around Oxford whose first language is not English. Each volunteer takes responsibility to tutor one child, aged 4-16, for a minimum of one academic year.

Activities and Responsibilities: 
Volunteers go to the pupil's house for an hour, once a week in term time, to help them with speaking, reading, writing and homework in a way that is as fun and engaging as possible! We also run days out for volunteers and their pupils, as well as socials for volunteers.
Benefits to Participants: 
This is an immensely rewarding way to engage with the local community in Oxford, and make a real difference to a child's life. Volunteers, parents, teachers and pupils are all incredibly positive about the effect of Jacari tutoring. We provide you with lots of support, including inductions, a handbook, workshops, resources and a library of books and worksheets. It's brilliant experence for anyone who wants to work with children, or in the charity sector, or who just wants to have fun!
Required Skills and Training: 
All volunteers undergo a CRB check (free of charge). All other training is provided.
