Victim Support is the independent charity for victims and witnesses of crime right across England and Wales. We were set up 35 years ago and have grown to become the oldest and largest victims' organisation in the world. Every year, we contact over 1.5 million people after a crime to offer our help.
We provide emotional support, practical help and information to people affected by crime.

Giving free and confidential emotional support and practical help to people affected by crime.
•Contacting people who have been victims of crime, over the phone or through visits to their homes or mutually agreed location.
• Clearly explaining the role of Victim Support.
• Finding out what each victim’s needs for support are. Letting them know their options.
• Exploring with the victim ways to help them overcome the emotional, psychological and practical effects of crime.
• Supporting people in dealing with the aftermath of crime for themselves. Assessing progress and agreeing next steps.
• Helping to arrange suitable referrals to other agencies.
• Liaising with staff to organise practical services.
• Promoting the rights of the people you support and respecting their diversity.
• Giving information about court and police procedures.
• Giving help with applications through the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority.
