Opportunity Details

Start Date:
Friday, 5 June 2009
Location:
Oxford, UK
Duration:
1 year
Type of Opportunity:
Fundraising/Skilled
Activities and Responsibilities:
OxFizz runs an annual internship programme for students at university in Oxford, enabling them to learn skills and gain experience working for an innovative social enterprise. Positions available range from Chief Executive of Career Interview Coaching, Chief Marketing Officer of Oxford Tutoring, Recruitment & Training Officer of Oxbridge Interviews, and many more.
Benefits to Participants:
Our internship programme is aimed at those interested in charities, philanthropy and social enterprise. It is especially useful for anyone looking to go into the charity sector or social enterprise as a career. We aim to train charity leaders of the future. There is a paradox in third sector employment: charities require applicants to have experience; but the number of internships or work experience available in charities is minimal. We seek to bridge that gap by providing structured internships, providing experience, training and seminars and Summer Placements for our team of interns. OxFizz internships are a real development opportunity, enabling interns to learn relevant skills and experience while raising money for charity in an innovative enterprise.
Required Skills and Training:
Previous experience of volunteering, working in a team and other skills are useful but not essential. Most important is an interest in the work of social enterprise and charities, a willingness to learn and an enthusiasm to contribute. We provide lots of training and support so this is an excellent development opportunity. This year we have had training seminars on public speaking, philanthropy and management, as well as prominent speakers visiting such as Nick Hurd MP (Shadow Minister for Charities, Social Enterprise and Volunteering).
Additional Information:
Our main recruitment period is in Trinity term. We welcome earlier contact from any interested students throughout the year, and can answer any questions you might have.
